hooked on u - completed on june 28, 2025

ultrabox - this song was made as a birthday present for my boyfriend, and he was definitely my main inspiration for the whole thing. one of his interests is the ocean, mainly fish, mainly sharks, and one of my interests is frutiger aero, especially the music that's come of it. and, on top of that, when i was making it, some of the chimes vaguely reminded me of the portal 2 cooperative testing soundtrack, so.. i just went with it! i took all of these together to make a song that sounded like the classic "underwater" sound, y'know? very calm, chimey, and at points there's the slight sound of waves in the background. i also kinda crunched the bitrate of this one just for fun lol

i made this after taking a long break with music, not having the spark for a while. but it hit me really good, and i feel i've actually managed to make my first proper song that doesn't just.. repeat itself for the whole duration. being able to bring the different sounds in to this one piece was really important to me. so, i'm glad i could bring it all in!

creator's domain - completed on may 15th, 2025

jummbox - i made this for a roblox game concept i had. it was sort of inspired off of the stanley parable; i'll spoil it here since it probably won't ever get finished (plus they'll probably be put into the ocs page at some point). creator and protag were the main characters. protag was, of course, the one you played as. you couldn't see what they looked like in game, but they had no textures. it was just that source magenta and black checker all over with a sweet lil face, lol - creator was this glowing white entity who was trying to make a game for protag to be put in. the game would basically be you going through a bunch of creator's failed projects as it tried over and over to make something good, worthy even, that would earn it's praise. it had been trying for so long that it even had it's consciousness uploaded so that it could continue on this escapade forever.

anyway, this song was made specifically for an area where you would somehow glitch into the creator's "domain". it would have this long "security obby" that you'd have to get through, a measure it had set up mainly for laughs, as there was nobody who would even need to be kept out of the space. the area was glowing white, just like creator was, and this would be what played while you were in said area. i think after you beat the obby, the idea was that the creator would realize there was actually somebody behind the screen playing. either that, or it was supposed to imply that protag themselves was sentient. i think i was having trouble deciding. but yeah, this was basically a key plot point for creator and protag's relationship developing. did i mention that creator had a huge crush on it's own creation? ah well. the game's not coming out anyway. (ironic, yeah?)

night lake - completed on november 4, 2024

jummbox - i honestly don't remember too much about this little clip (or any of the ones further back, so this will become a recurring theme). what i do know is that this was something i came up with when i was really struggling for inspiration but itching to make something like this again. i think that sound of desperation kinda comes through in the song. i only had a visual in mind when i was making it; and that was the moon shimmering over a lake, silent in the dead of night. when you, and everything else there, is alone, no matter the circumstance. so it all sort of comes together in a way.

the halloween special - completed august 31, 2024

jummbox - you can clearly see this was not made anywhere near october 31st, but i was feeling the vibes regardless. besides that, i don't know exactly what sparked this, though... i think i just kinda missed making boss battle music and wanted to see how i'd improved LMAO. i remember having a shit ton of fun with this one though! still quite like it even if it is a bit repetitive

gentle melody (ironically, loud) - completed on august 27, 2024

jummbox - one of my first just genuinely chill-out songs. i don't have much to say about this one, but i might come back to it sometime.

zenith - completed on july 22, 2024

jummbox - this one actually didn't have a title for a while, but it came to me a bit after i'd finished it. the inspiration was definitely a sort of "hero's journey" kind of thing. facing down the villain; reaching the climax of the story, peak of the mountain; this is the zenith of the tale. i really wanted that sense of triumph to shine through. i mainly went for this theme with the loud, echoing drums and the way everything sort of reverberated. nothing was soft, it all had a meaning to be there. and the end is the lovely sendoff to it all.

Yellow Yellow (this one is louder/harder on the ears) - completed on march 4th, 2024

i think this was beepbox - i think i had a thing for making boss battle-esque songs during these couple months. i mean, that was sort of how i started out with my music, everything i made sounded.. a bit edgy and angry. i think i just had some shit i didn't have an outlet for LOL. the whole choir thing was just a bit over the top though. i don't really know what i was going for here besides the frantic boss battle, if anything. also, the title was a bit of an in-joke at the time. there was this server i was in where somebody just kept saying Yellow Yellow with the confessions bot. i think it was a reference to something, but i dunno what.

"Do You Ever" - completed on march 3rd, 2024

beepbox - honestly.. i don't have much to say about this one. edgy boss music part 5 million?

"RandomTestStuff" - completed on february 17th, 2024(?)

beepbox - yeah this one was just me messing around, so no title. and again with the edgy boss battle + the choir? at least it was good until that overdrive guitar came in. this wasn't my first rendevous with beepbox, but i believe it was my first time trying to make something of a decent length that was wholly original. i don't have much to say about this one though. i can just tell i was pretty uninspired and just trying to make something

Still Alive ("8-bit" cover) (loud/hard on the ears) - completed on november 26, 2023

beepbox - when i first found & started using beepbox, the main thing i did was make covers of preexisting songs. i think most of them got lost to time, but this is the one i still have because.. i mean, i love portal. of course i'm still gonna have this. - i could definitely do alot better than this with what i have now, and honestly might remake it some day. (writing this on july 23, 2025 to keep myself accountable.)

macahorn defeat - completed august 4, 2023

soundtrap - this was a sort of flavor frenzy (roblox) fan track. the story chapters had cutscenes that would have music kind of similar to this (i believe..) and i'd imagined a scene for after you defeat macahorn, the boss of one of the difficulty 5 maps. it was something about him just like throwing a tantrum about how he was defeated. that's about all i can say about this though, since it's just a really simple little thing i found

"random song" - completed on december 8, 2022

soundtrap - okay, real question here... HOW do i still have this file. oh well - since this was so long ago i really can't comment much on what i was thinking, but i can just state the obvious.. very space/galactic inspired battle-ish song. i think this was definitely something inspired from my brother's music at the time, based on the instruments i used, lol

MY MANIFESTO

i believe i started trying to dip my toes into music in 2021. when i started out, i used this website called soundtrap. the site itself wasn't great. i wish i'd started literally anywhere else; but we take what we're given! i don't have many of the files from back then, unfortunately.

nowadays, i use ultrabox. it's a mod of jummbox, which in turn is a mod of beepbox. it's intended for making more retro-style music, but the things that ultrabox has added elevates what you can do quite a bit from the original.

my goals with music have shifted quite a bit. when i first started out, i wanted to make fnf songs, because of course i did. somewhere in the middle, when i first found beepbox, i wanted to make music in line with a "retro style" game, because that was what beepbox worked best for, so i was sort of just working within my limits. but as of now, i think the best term for what i like is just ambient music. the types of music you'd get out of my site inspiration playlist, which, y'know.. lines up.

one funny thing is that i've always had a tendency to imagine lyrics to songs that don't have any, or memorize every lyric and sing along with songs that do, but i've never actually made a song with lyrics. i've started a few, but honestly, making lyrical songs just isn't really my thing. i just don't find it as fun. so, as much as i've been inspired by musicals, i don't think i'll be making any soon.

i have a little pipe dream of maybe publishing my music someday. it's highly unlikely i will, what between the costs of doing so and actually being able to make music for said dream, but i just like thinking about things.

for now, i just want to search for inspiration wherever i can, and see what comes of it. i'd like to say my brother definitely inspired me to start out on music, especially with the whole "retro style" stuff, given there was a little series he made of his own that would also fit within such a game. i don't need him to appreciate the music; even if i'm sure he does, but i just hope he knows that he's inspired me a lot. i'm really proud of how far i've come already, and i'm excited to see what i can cook up in the future.
